Biei Christmas Tree
Biei’s famous Christmas Tree, photographed from the quiet far side of the crowd in one 61-second exposure. A single spruce, fresh snow and soft moving cloud, in black and white. Free replacement if it arrives flawed, and a 30-day return if it does not feel right on your wall.
About the photograph
Two minutes after the torn-cloud view, from the same spot on the far side and with the same dry branches in the snow, I left the shutter open for a full minute. The broken cloud smoothed into soft pale bands, and the whole scene turned quiet. Side by side, the two show how one place can change in a minute.
What it does for the room
This is a tall print, so it suits a vertical space. A 24×36 or 40×60 fills the wall above a sofa, a bed or a long sideboard. A 16×24 or 20×30 sits well above a dresser, console or reading chair. An 8×12 or 12×18 works on a shelf, a narrow wall or beside a doorway. The greys are soft rather than stark, and the open white of the snow sits easily with light oak, linen, stone and warm grey. It reads as calm, not cold.
