Biei Hokkaido Winter Trees Panorama
Bare winter trees along a Biei hilltop, photographed with a long lens in a 60-second lull between gusts. A wide black and white panorama that gives a long wall a calm horizon. Free replacement if it arrives flawed, and a 30-day return if it does not feel right on your wall.
About the photograph
These trees stand on a high hill seen from a road, far off across the fields, and from that distance even a light wind blurs the picture. After several tries, waiting for the lulls, I made this one in a moment of no wind, a 60 second exposure on 7 March 2018, a quarter hour before sunset.
What it does for the room
The 3:1 panoramic shape is made for long, low walls. Hang it above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard, where a square print would look lost. As a guide: 12×36 suits a console, desk or narrow hallway; 16×48 sits well above a bed or a smaller sofa; 20×60 fits above a standard three-seat sofa; 24×72 holds a large open wall on its own. Most of the frame is open snow and sky, so the wall feels calm rather than busy. The greys are soft, not cold, and sit easily with light oak, linen, stone and warm white walls.
Real photograph
One exposure, made on location. No composites, no generated content. Tone and light are refined in editing, as with any fine-art print.
