Biei Hokkaido Winter Trees Panorama
A row of winter trees on a high Hokkaido hill, caught in the one windless moment after several tries, a quarter hour before sunset. A long, quiet panorama for the wall above a sofa. Free replacement if it arrives flawed, and a 30-day return if it does not feel right on your wall.
About the photograph
These trees stand on a high hill seen from a road, far off across the fields, and from that distance even a light wind blurs the picture. After several tries, waiting for the lulls, I made this one in a moment of no wind. It was 17:11 on 7 March 2018, a quarter hour before sunset, a 60-second exposure.
What it does for the room
The long 3:1 panoramic shape is made for wide walls. The 12×36 sits over a headboard or along a hallway. The 16×48 fits above a loveseat or a sideboard. The 20×60 suits a standard three-seat sofa. The 24×72 holds a large living room wall or a long dining wall on its own. Most of the frame is white snow and soft grey sky, so it reads light and open rather than cold. The fine dark lines of the branches echo light oak, linen, stone and plaster without competing with them.
Real photograph
One exposure, made on location. No composites, no generated content. Tone and light are refined in editing, as with any fine-art print.
